Socializing ; Killing us Softly & Call to Men

1.       1. Summarize Killing us Softly. (1-2 paragraphs)
Killing us softly was simply a documentary of a woman speaking the truth on how society makes women feel. They want females to be goddesses or if they aren’t to make themselves look like that. To me the documentary is amazing because she speaks the truth and a lot of women need to see that their beautiful the way they are society wants everybody to look alike. All societies does is JUDGE. For women society judges hard because they all want you to have bigger breast or rounder, bigger buttocks. Basically this documentary was focused on the women’s body. Instead it should be about a women’s personality which it should be. They are actually degrading women in sneaky ways in these ads. From young there trying to show that females should be passive and a male should be active.
2.     2.  Summarize a Call to Men. (1-2 paragraphs)
A call to men is a documentary where a man is calling out how society THINKS men should be to a woman, or how to be a “MAN”. He told powerful stories or his own life to show how men treat unmanliness things. Such as crying or showing emotions.  Again another documentary who are downgrading women or the role women play. It’s kind of annoying how they think women are such delicate creatures or should be. He showed how through his experience’s he showed not only did he feel bad about the things that went down but felt bad at how men are supposedly programmed to be. He also stated “we operate under foundation this whole collection of socialization we kind of see our self-separable were very much a part of it”. Which shows me society has the thought of how males and women roles are supposed to be, very wrong.
3.       3. Explain how both video relate to our chapter on Socialization. (1-2 paragraphs)
Socialization and both of these doc. Relate because it shows how wrong society can be. With the way they judge us different people interact differently. Not all males are macho men and not all women are delicate little flowers like they portray us to be. Not all men look at women where as they need to be dominate over them because like discussed in class males such as the one labeled as “mommas boys” some see women as equal or even more then they equal because of the way they would typically want a male to treat their mother or how they seen their father treat their mother.
4.       4. Find one picture that represents the ways that boys and girls are socialized? (E.G. toys, TV, products etc.)

Society ..

Society To Me is Funny. They Can Tell You What Your Status Is, Your Major Status Just Because Of What You Do In Life. To Me That Sounds Like Judgement. Organizations As Well Basically Judges You Too, And Also Categorize You Was Well. Like For Examples Cheerleaders, You Got The Captain, Co-Captain, & Then You Have Your Cheerers. They All Have a Specific Duty But Yet You Have The Top Person Who Tells You What You Need To Do. But Who Are These Individuals Who Bleeds Just As Well As The Next To Judge? It Just Baffles My Mind ...

Teenage Wasteland

As I read this story all I could do was shake my head. The dominate culture of this town which was anybody that wasn't labeled as a "burnouts" was ridiculous. Just because these kids wasn't what they felt was appropriate they judged them. Last time I checked only god was suppose to judge what we do in this thing we call LIFE. Everybody's different and because this subculture was too different for what they are used to, they cast them as outcasts. They should of seen that their judging was actually the reason these kids were forming pacts to kill themselves. It's sad how society just judges people off of what they see instead of getting to know people. I feel everybody does but come on it should be to a limit. They meaning the dominate group should of opened they eyes and seen that their actions was poisons to these kids lifestyle and life PERIOD.
