Boyhood Organized Sports and The Construction Of Masculinites
Before reading this article the thought that came to my head is males at young ages see older males in either their family, or their neighborhood playing sports so they want to do the same. As I Read I Seen How Me & The Author Felt The Same Way through His Reaserch. Then as I read a line that caught my eye was when Zane Grey stated," All boys love baseball. If they don't they're not real boys" The sense of judgement is not surprising at all because when it comes to sports all types of people whether its young kids, old people, middle aged people can get REALLY competitive and say the craziest things. Growing up I seen that males play sports but my all time favorite is basketball, when I played with males they felt the need to try to "take it easy on me" which was never needed because when it came to that sport I was just as rough as the boys. But when it came to a certain age and certain circumstances I gave up on sports , males necessarily don't do that. Its like as if males feel pressured and feel the need to use their masculinity to show how much of man they are. Or just how tough they are on the field or the court. Certain Males Use sport as a way of getting out of bad situations such as family problems so they use they time away from home very active , or some use it because they feel as if that's the only way to get out of a bad situation like for example if they have to be the man of the house at an early age so they take to sports because their well at it and some Ogf them with their talents succeed !!

Race ;
“Race Matters” was a perfect title for the reading. Actually shows just how much race matters. This reading came off VERY offensive to me for various reasons. It just made me look at society a whole different way. Why is racism still around but most people are so blind to the fact. Blacks from long time in history to now are treated like crap and society tries to be so oblivious to it, or feel if they don’t feel as if they are being singled out then It’s okay. This is WRONG because discrimination supposedly stopped many years ago, but people are just so stuck in their ways. Discrimination is wrong in various ways. When it comes to discriminating because of someone’s income or color or education is senseless. Senseless because you don’t know they story, so from the beginning your judging a person by the outside not getting to know them. This is silly because even if a person looks nothing like you deep down inside they just might be just like you. Society has a way of judging people for various races. But the ones they give the most problems too in my eyes seem to be the blacks and Hispanics

Class
People all over want to be in a higher class so they do anything necessary to belong to a higher group. My self is a prime example , before I had gotten my job I would get my mother to buy me the most expensive things just do I could fit in with the kids that could afford it. So even if she had to punch and squeeze I felt I needed the finest things in life and she would always call me a rich minded poor girl. Also liked in the movie that I've just seen think like a man , one of the characters wanted to date this very rich business women and felt he had to lie to get with her , so he took some ones expensive car to show her he " had " money which was false and when he actually finally gotten his business started he told her he wined and dined her at the finest restaurants to impress her which I think people in lower and middle class try's to do. They try to impress a higher class do they can show them I can get money just as well as you , being that higher people more often judge lower classes on how they dress, talk, walk, and where they live also where they work. Anybody in society judges what they think are beneath them an have been doing it since birth because they've seen someone do it or what's the object of somebody's judgement. Such as web.a black person would tell another black who talks proper or dresses a certain way stop acting white or why do you talk like because they're probably use to people talking Ebonics. Society ad classes are nothing but judgment in my eyes that's why I'm ALWAYS Saying " DOT JUDGE ME " because nine times out of ten people wanna say what I have the guts to say but just are afraid of being judged so they stop themselves from doing and saying a lot which to me is stopping yourself from living how you TRULY wanna live .

Underclass In America
A part of this reading that stuck out to me is when they stated " It is not difficult to understand why people poor and more fortunate, are fearful of street crime committed by poor people" because it was kind of confusing but yet I believe where the author was coming from. I Interpreted from that is people who are like low class but not actually poor as like living on the streets and wealthy people are actually afraid of the people on the streets who could actually commit street crimes. But thats actually categorizing all hobos as bad people when in all actuality some of them have had a hard life to live and wasn't as fortunate as others to have help and or a good up bringing. Other Then That The Reading Really Mad Me THINK Heavy About The Problems Addressed In This Reading

Deviance ..
The definition for deviance in the reading states " breaking a social rule, or refusing to follow one is called deviance." If that's the case I see deviance, happening on an everyday basis. Whether its young teens jumping turnstiles, fighting on the corners and or skipping school. Deviance in that case is probably an everyday thing for a lot of people whether they know it or not. As a teen growing up I guess i could be categorized as deviant because of the simple fact i did some of those things listed and not even know i was being deviant. I know i was doing wrong but besides it being wrong I had no clue it was another term for i. It's interesting what you learn on a day to day basis, and now that i know what deviance is i can kind of teach my niece of what not to do so she wont be categorized as a deviant child or a trouble maker.

Socializing ; Killing us Softly & Call to Men
1. 1. Summarize Killing us Softly. (1-2 paragraphs)
Killing us softly was simply a documentary of a woman
speaking the truth on how society makes women feel. They want females to be
goddesses or if they aren’t to make themselves look like that. To me the
documentary is amazing because she speaks the truth and a lot of women need to
see that their beautiful the way they are society wants everybody to look
alike. All societies does is JUDGE. For women society judges hard because they
all want you to have bigger breast or rounder, bigger buttocks. Basically this
documentary was focused on the women’s body. Instead it should be about a women’s
personality which it should be. They are actually degrading women in sneaky
ways in these ads. From young there trying to show that females should be passive
and a male should be active.
2. 2. Summarize a Call to Men. (1-2 paragraphs)
A call to men is a
documentary where a man is calling out how society THINKS men should be to a
woman, or how to be a “MAN”. He told powerful stories or his own life to show
how men treat unmanliness things. Such as crying or showing emotions. Again another documentary who are downgrading
women or the role women play. It’s kind of annoying how they think women are
such delicate creatures or should be. He showed how through his experience’s he
showed not only did he feel bad about the things that went down but felt bad at
how men are supposedly programmed to be. He also stated “we operate under
foundation this whole collection of socialization we kind of see our self-separable
were very much a part of it”. Which shows me society has the thought of how
males and women roles are supposed to be, very wrong.
3. 3. Explain how both video relate to our chapter on
Socialization. (1-2 paragraphs)
Socialization and both of these doc. Relate because it shows
how wrong society can be. With the way they judge us different people interact
differently. Not all males are macho men and not all women are delicate little
flowers like they portray us to be. Not all men look at women where as they
need to be dominate over them because like discussed in class males such as the
one labeled as “mommas boys” some see women as equal or even more then they
equal because of the way they would typically want a male to treat their mother
or how they seen their father treat their mother.
4. 4. Find one picture that represents the ways that
boys and girls are socialized? (E.G. toys, TV, products etc.)

Society ..
Society To Me is Funny. They Can Tell You What Your Status Is, Your Major Status Just Because Of What You Do In Life. To Me That Sounds Like Judgement. Organizations As Well Basically Judges You Too, And Also Categorize You Was Well. Like For Examples Cheerleaders, You Got The Captain, Co-Captain, & Then You Have Your Cheerers. They All Have a Specific Duty But Yet You Have The Top Person Who Tells You What You Need To Do. But Who Are These Individuals Who Bleeds Just As Well As The Next To Judge? It Just Baffles My Mind ...
