Deviance ..
The definition for deviance in the reading states " breaking a social rule, or refusing to follow one is called deviance." If that's the case I see deviance, happening on an everyday basis. Whether its young teens jumping turnstiles, fighting on the corners and or skipping school. Deviance in that case is probably an everyday thing for a lot of people whether they know it or not. As a teen growing up I guess i could be categorized as deviant because of the simple fact i did some of those things listed and not even know i was being deviant. I know i was doing wrong but besides it being wrong I had no clue it was another term for i. It's interesting what you learn on a day to day basis, and now that i know what deviance is i can kind of teach my niece of what not to do so she wont be categorized as a deviant child or a trouble maker.

I like this blog because we all can be defined as deviant in some ways because we all break social rules sometimes without even knowing it and no one is perfect. But atleast we can try to follow the social rules and not ignore it.
ReplyDeleteEveryone is deviant but were afraid to show it because its most likely embarrassing. I'm glad your able to teach younger generations what deviance can categorize you as. If only most people like myself would have learned earlier about the can and cannot's in public, we wouldn't be as insecure as we would be if we did know.
ReplyDeleteI too was considered a deviant when I was younger. The group I chose to hang out with was involved in all kinds of "deviant" activities. Because I wanted to be a part of that group I participated in those activities as well.
